Izzat (Mirwana)



Name : Syed Muhammad Izzat Syed Mahadi

Date of birth : 7 December 1980

Place of birth : Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia



Education :

SMKA Maahad Hamidiah, Kajang (1993-1997)

International Islamic University Malaysia (1998-2004)

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Information Engineering



Working experience:

Software Engineer in e-learning courseware and virtual-lab development. (2003-2006)



Experience in local music industry:

Izzat is a member of Mirwana a nasyeed group from SMKA Maahad Hamidiah and had recorded 6 albums under the school curricular activities which was also known as an underground nasyid scene. After finishing high school in 1997, there were market demands in nasyid songs which inspired Izzat and his friends to take their talent onto the next level. He got the opportunity to record in other artists’ album as featuring and back up vocals in numerous projects. Performing from small charity shows to the prestigious award events, he also contributed in many live events and concerts ever since. After 13 years of hard work, Universal Music has finally agreed to sign them up and released their first commercial album in 2004.





Achievements :



1. Winner of 2 categories in ‘Era Award’ 2004
  • the best Nasyid song – Hikmah Kembara
  • the best Duo/Vocal group


2. Nominated as the finalist of ‘Berita Harian Popular Star Award’ 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007the most popular Nasyid artist



3. Nominated as the finalist of ‘ Music Industry Award’ 2004 the best Nasyid Album



4. Winner of 1 category in ‘Era Award’ 2005
  • the best Nasyid song– Aku tanpa cintaMu


5. Winner of 4 categories in ‘IKIM.fm Nasyid Chart Award’ 2005
  • the best new artist
  • the longest survived song in chart – Hikmah Kembara
  • the most frequent on the top list of the chart – Aku tanpa cintaMu
  • the overall winner award – Hikmah Kembara


6. Nominated as one of Malaysian’s Icon in 2007



Current situation :

Izzat is married and blessed with a 2½ year old son. He came to the UK in 2007 to accompany his wife to complete her study in medicine. He is now working until his wife finishes her foundation training before furthering his postgraduate program. Izzat is scheduled to be in Cardiff, Wales until next year, insyaAllah.
