:: Rules and Regulations ::

7.1 Participants


1. This competition is opened to all muslimins.

2. Each participating team may consist up to 10 people. Solo performance is allowed.

3. During registration, each participating team need to submit their poster or group picture to be included in NexT-E 09's official blog and booklet. Dateline for the poster/picture is 18th January 2009. An example of the poster required can be viewed here (Munawwar).

4. Maximum time allowed for each performance is 10 minutes. The number of songs is unlimited as long as they are within the 10 minutes provided. *Subject to change. May differ when the number of participants is finalized.

5. Any nasyeed songs or songs conveying good messages are allowed. However, love songs except Allah and Muhammad p.b.u.h is strictly not allowed. Songs are not restricted to the theme i.e. ‘A New Beginning’.

6. There must be at least one part of the performance which is dedicated to Gaza. It can be of any form (poem, songs etc.)

7. Non-English songs need to have English translations prepared in advance using PowerPoint/Flash/videos. The PowerPoint/Flash/videos will be shown during the performance. Marks are given for this. (Please refer to Judging Criteria below) This must be submitted to the committee by 23rd January 2009 (Friday).

8. Participants are encouraged to create their own songs.


7.2 Attire and Instruments


1. Attire of participants will also be judged. It needs to be appropriate and decent but creative or different at the same time - whether it represents your nationalities’ attire or etc.

2. Types of instruments used are not restricted. The organizers will provide congas, bongos, shaker and a tamborine.

3. Minus one is allowed.



7.3 Registration


1. Registration of participants entering this competition is on a first come first serve basis.

2. Each participating team are required to pay a registration fee of €15. Payment made is non-refundable.

3. Closing date for registration is 21st January 2009.



7.4 Judging criteria


Songs selection/suitability/appreciation towards the meaning of the song (penghayatan) - 40 m

Vocal / Showmanship - 40 m

Video/script supported - 20 m

Attire - 10 m

Bonus point – credit from judges (including original songs) - 10 m

TOTAL 120 marks


The criteria above will contribute 60% of the final points. Another 40% will be contributed by the audience through voting.


The judges are Ustaz Erfino Johari and Syed Muhammad Izzat from the Malaysian nasyeed group, Mirwana. Judges decision are final.
